Nex’s first app was a basketball training app called HomeCourt, built to help players practice and improve their skills using just their iPhone or iPad. It’s backed by the NBA and remains the most popular basketball training app on Apple devices.
We wanted to bring that same love of practicing basketball skills into the living room with Nex Playground. Giving kids a place to dribble, work on their skills, and keep playing at home on a big-screen TV.
As we started bringing some of what we learned from HomeCourt to Nex Playground, we tested a lot of silent basketballs. None of them quite met our standards.
We wanted something that felt right in a junior player’s hands, with the right weight, touch, and sized for youth. The bounce needed to feel close enough to a real basketball that the skills you practice at home could translate back to the court. And it needed to hold up to a lot of play.
So we decided to make one ourselves.
We’ve been working on a new accessory for Nex Playground: Quiet Basketball, a basketball designed to make indoor practice and play easier.
We meticulously engineered every ounce, every inch, and every bounce. Nex Quiet Basketball is made to hit the sweet spot, with the size, touch, weight, and response young players need to build skills that translate to the court.
• It works together with a new interactive training game we’re developing
• It also works great with the free mobile HomeCourt app on iPhone or iPad. Perfect for training on the go.
• There are no electronics in the ball itself. Nex Playground and HomeCourt do all the detection and motion tracking of the ball, making it a seamless integration
• It can be used without either Nex Playground or HomeCourt, but that's way less fun
Before we share it more broadly, we wanted our Nex Community to get the first look when we launch it in a couple of weeks.
