While you’re high-kicking your way to victory, Playground uses AI motion tracking to make your movements feel like magic. And all that magic happens right on your device, never “in the cloud.” The only time you even need to be connected to WiFi is to download games and updates. Otherwise, you can play totally offline.

If there’s no one watching, why is there a camera cover?

The camera cover is really just for extra peace of mind when playtime is over. Plus, we think the cube looks pretty cute with it on.

How does motion tracking work without recording video data?

AI motion tracking happens locally on the device. Video data is not processed on the cloud. Some games temporarily record video for local replay and highlights (Move and Groove with Grover and Party Fowl, for example), but those videos are never saved.

Can my kids play or chat with strangers online?

That’s a big nope. Because there is no browser, no chat or messaging, and no third-party apps, the only people your kids will be interacting with is whoever they’re playing with in person. In fact, the only time you even need to be connected to WiFi is to download games and updates. Otherwise, you can play totally offline.

Why aren’t there any parental controls?

That’s because all of our games and content are created for kids first. They’re not only safe, but also designed to be active and good for you. So, there’s no need for traditional parental controls. However, if there’s a game you’d rather your kids not play, you do have the ability to hide it. We know how it goes.

How can I be sure it’s really, really safe?

Nex Playground is a closed and encrypted system. PlayOS is built on top of Android Open Source Project, a modern and secure operating system. We do not allow third-party software and do not run a web browser, making it almost impossible to attack. PlayOS also went through a third-party security review, which is how we got KidSAFE+ COPPA Certified—not to brag or anything.
